Some of the scouts from Troop 4125 had fun and learned some stuff at the Scouting in the Wild event at Lion Country Safari. They received partial merit badges in bird study, mammal study, reptile and amphibian study, and geology.
Troop 4125 was grateful to be invited to participate in the Wreaths Across America event at The South Florida National Cemetery and to lay the wreath for their Scoutmaster’s former Scoutmaster.
For over 20 years residents on Citrus Grove Boulevard in Loxahatchee have hosted a trunk-or-treat event to provide a safe environment for children to celebrate Halloween. I’ve personally attended this event and can tell you that the adorable ninjas, goblins, and Disney princesses leave litter everywhere! Since Halloween fell on a Saturday this year our troop had the opportunity for the scouts to perform a community clean-up this morning. The outpouring of gratitude from the community has been tremendous!
It was a beautiful weekend! Our older scouts got the opportunity to help our newest scouts earn their Firem’n Chit and Totin Chip as well as to teach them flag etiquette. One of them even squeezed in a rank advancement…all while making wonderful memories.
A scout is resourceful! For the foreseeable future, we’ve added a virtual component to our meetings to be inclusive of those who cannot participate in-person. COVID-19 won’t stop us from having a great year!
Last month we had our first outing of the 2020-2021 scout year: we hiked (part of) “The Mike” at TK until we hit knee-deep water; then we hiked back. It was a beautiful day!
Our scouts took a tram tour and learned about the history of the park and its foliage and fauna, visited the Civilian Conservation Corps Museum, and got a bonus presentation on the use of antique tools. This was by far our COLDEST campout yet!
